Trophies of the Russian army
Live to grey hair and preserve youthful naivety and faith! Faith that after three weeks of the exhibition “Trophies of the Russian Army” on Poklonnaya Hill, people will stop going there. And on Sunday too!
The snake of a queue, meandering along the barriers of the fence, stretched for several hundred meters. At the same time, everything was decorous, cultured and sedate. You begin to view the exhibition even before you enter it.
Don’t miss the moment, you won’t be able to look from the inside from this angle.
The human stream carries you past the layout of the equipment. I won’t even reduce the resolution and size of the photo, in violation of my own practice: maybe you’ll see something.
And no need to swear – this is a photo from the queue: they are propping it up from behind, they are wiping it off the side, and the stand itself jumped out unexpectedly.
A long row of checkpoints ensures that the queue, filling the fenced area of the exhibition itself, moves slowly but evenly. Keep in mind that they check according to airport rules! I don’t know about the rest, but they won’t let you bring in liquid.
By the way, arriving at the start of work, which was at 10:00, had a positive effect. The exhibition area was half full (for pessimists) or half empty (for optimists). I did not appreciate it at first, but after an hour and a half, trying to make another circle around all the exhibits, I already guessed.
When I was standing in line, this burnt ass seemed familiar to me.
Looking at his face later, I recognized an old acquaintance from Patriot Park.
Having calmed down on this topic, because you never know what kind of burnt Bushmasters we might have, I focused on previously unseen hits: the Abrams and the Leopard.
You can’t really get close to them either: young and old take photos and selfies!
It is noteworthy that engineering equipment based on Abrams does not cause such a stir.
Near each, well, or almost each exhibit there is a military man who patiently answers visitors’ questions.
Only one of them stands out from the general row: Hero of Russia Ivan Zharsky, standing next to the knocked-out Leopard, quite possibly by him.
Nobody asks him about the weight or other technical characteristics of the tank, but at the same time they don’t leave him alone for a second: they take pictures and selfies with him, shake hands and say thank you.
And even for this you have to stand in line.

There are two pavilions with their own queues on the exhibition grounds.
Since I had definitely already seen this, I didn’t go in.
There were quite a lot of animatedly talking Chinese in the crowd. And their youth were charged with patriotism against the backdrop of our soldiers.
Once again, the American “Three Axes” howitzer caught my attention: it is so ugly and awkward that I just can’t take my eyes off it.
Already at home, studying the photographs, I tried to determine: is she the same or different? Well, except for the color.
And if the rustiness of the hydraulic cylinder rod can hide behind NATO symbols, then the upper inscriptions are made with different paint. I don’t think our guys would bother so much. That means they are different.
Closer to the exit, another wunderfafel attracted attention.
The exhibition concludes with the idea: “History repeats itself”
which is clearly illustrated by the German equipment that has already rolled across our soil.
And a stand with photographs of a similar exhibition 80 years ago
leads to a simple and natural conclusion: “Our victory is inevitable!”
